A roundup of results from accross the club this weekend.

Grove RFC Rugby Round Up in Grove & Wantage – Senior Win at Newbury and Junior Results Across Oxfordshire

Grove RFC, based in Grove near Wantage in South Oxfordshire, enjoyed another positive weekend of rugby with a strong senior victory on the road and competitive fixtures across the junior section. Players from Grove, Wantage, Didcot, Abingdon and across the Vale of White Horse represented the club with pride across both Saturday and Sunday fixtures.

Senior Rugby – Grove RFC Secure Five Points at Newbury

Newbury Stags 17 – 45 Grove RFC

Grove produced an impressive performance away from home to secure a convincing win against Newbury Stags. Facing a very quick South Pacific backline, Grove focused on controlling the game through their forward dominance and structured attack.

The platform for the victory was set by a powerful scrum which consistently applied pressure. From that base, Grove were able to create attacking opportunities and move the ball effectively through midfield, eventually running in six tries.

Junior Rugby Results – Sunday Fixtures

Another busy Sunday saw several junior teams in action, with strong performances and competitive games across the age groups.

Under 16s
Grove 43 – 15 Drifters RFC

A very solid performance from the Under 16s saw them secure a convincing home win. Strong ball carrying combined with determined defensive work allowed the team to control the game. The players worked hard for each other throughout and the result reflected the effort shown across the full eighty minutes.

Under 15s

A frustrating afternoon for the Under 15s despite what was arguably one of their strongest defensive displays of the season. The contest became scrappy which made it difficult to establish rhythm in attack. Grove produced some excellent passages of rugby and were competitive for large periods, but ultimately finished on the wrong side of the result. There are clear positives to take forward into the coming weeks.

Under 14 Grove and Didcot Titans
Titans 15 – 15 High Wycombe

An extremely physical match resulted in a well deserved draw. Big tackles and hard running characterised the contest from both sides. Grove and Didcot Titans produced several well worked team tries alongside moments of individual quality. By the final whistle both teams had given everything and the draw reflected a closely fought encounter.

Positive Progress Across the Club

From senior league rugby to junior development, the weekend once again highlighted the strength of community rugby at Grove RFC. Performances across the teams showed commitment, teamwork and continued progress as the season moves towards its final stages.
