Training and visit to London Welsh

Training and visit to London Welsh

Our Minis section got off to a flying start last weekend with their first training session taking place in the Sunday morning sunshine. With a good turnout, all our young players were keen to get back into their rugby as they learn the new skills as they move up the age groups. It was also great to see a number of new players come along to give Tag Rugby a try.

To launch the London Welsh season as they return to the Rugby Premiership, Grove Minis were invited to their first match of the season against Exeter Chiefs. We took along a number of our young players from the U7’s and U8’s section accompanied by their coaches and their families to take part in the Fanzone pre match activities with the opportunity to meet some of the London Welsh Squad. Grove Minis then formed a guard of honour with London Welsh flags waving high as the players from both teams came out of the tunnel on to the pitch.

Half time saw the opportunity for our players to demonstrate their own skills to the crowd as they played Tag Rugby against Gosford All Blacks. All teams had great fun and all the coaches commented about the high standard of rugby that the young players demonstrated with great flowing matches. This was an especially exciting moment for our players as many of them had played during the half time of the London Welsh play-off match against Bristol at the end of last season which led to their promotion back to the Premiership.

All our age groups are now looking forward to the Grove Minis Festival which takes place on the 5th October.
