Grove cruised to a fairly comfortable win against luckless Bletchley on Saturday despite strong resistance from the visitors throughout the first half when their very large pack dominated somewhat.
Grove took a 7 : 0 lead with a try from flanker Simon Peel and conversion from Grove debutante, American Jona Cali playing at fly half. Good work from Bletchley kept them in contention with an unconverted try before Grove's hooker, Steve Dixey pushed Grove into a 12 : 5 half time lead.
In the second half Bletchley's big pack noticeably tired and Grove's forwards began to take control up front. This lead to further trys from wingers Danny Ferguson and Guy Nicholl and prop James Eckert (Capt).
Cali converted two of these and added a penalty for the final bonus point score. Grove's performance was noticeably enhanced when flanker replacement Dave Wells came on and delivered some sparkling attacks.
Late in the game replacements Jimmy Wallbridge and Alex Morgan came on for Steve Dixey and Jack Horrocks.
