Grove did not start this game well, again missing tackles and allowed Oxford to go into a 7 : 0 lead through their left wing and from a superb touchline conversion by their full back. Things improved however and it was not too long before the stronger side emerged, going on to win by a considerable margin and moving to 4th in the league in the process. Grove's points came from Man of the Match, No. 8 Jamie Fredericks (2 trys), wing Gareth Hudson (2 trys), centre Nick Sevier ( 1 try), fly half Roger Sevier (1 try + 4 conversions), hooker Jon North, (1 try) and replacement flanker Guy Nicholl (1 try).
Grove had a somewhat depleted side with regulars Harry Carr, Joe Bellinger, Steve Dixey, Jimmy Wallbridge, Jamie Burns and Tom Clipsham all missing from the squad this week.
Despite strong pressure from the Oxford forwards early in the game other good performances were delivered particularly by flanker James Kerr, lock Stewart Sherwood, scrum half Jonny Simmonds and full back Chris Clare.
The half time score was 22 : 12. In the second half Grove substitutes Mark Tugwell, Guy Nicholl and Ben Law replaced Jon North, flanker Jon Chapman and lock Paul Miles respectively.
Credit to Oxford who's heads never went down and who played flat out until the end.
