These 2 sides met for the first game of the season with Grove coming out on top by 2 points away to Reading on that occasion. This return fixture promised to be a challenge for both teams who have had some fantastic results since meeting on the 1st day.

In the reverse fixture Reading Abbey started fast and quickly went 10-0 up on Grove, something which the players and coaches were determined to prevent today. Following a team talk in the changing rooms prior to kick off, Grove came out hungry to maintain the form that has seen them score 100 + points in the last 3 fixtures.

A quick start from Grove took Reading Abbey by surprise and after 15 minutes Grove were 3 tries to the good and looking to really push on. A debut try for Josh got the team up and running with Archer and Zak adding the second and third quickly after. Logan continued his good kicking form and a 2nd try for both Josh and Archer left Grove 31-0 up at half time.

Grove started the second half as they finished the first, showing high intensity and great handling in wet conditions with Billy going over for his first try in a Grove shirt. Zak followed up with his second of the game with Bence getting in on the act soon after. The final say went to Billy with his second try of the game and a result of 60-0 was achieved with another impressive Grove performance.
