Faringdon u14s 0 vs 66 Grove u14s
Oxfordshire County Cup
28th January 2024
A highly anticipated local derby with both teams searching for the result which would see them progress in the cup.
Grove are typically slow starters and have paid the price for this earlier in the season, however this was not the case today. A try in the 1st minute from Captain Jacob Luker set the tone for what would be a dominating victory for a Grove side hitting top gear.
The team racked up 10 tries with no response from an improving Faringdon team. Scrum half Logan Govans continued his fine kicking form with 8 out of 10 conversions successfully finding the way through the posts!
A man of the match performance from Thomas Cox epitomised the commitment and intensity that the team played with throughout the whole game, never letting up whilst encouraging every member of the team to get involved as much as possible.
This is the first time this season that the whole squad had been available for selection and it bodes well for the upcoming fixtures.
Credit must go to both the players and coaches who have created a culture and philosophy within the team which is evident in recent performances.
