1st Half Summary
It was a very cold day at Cane Lane, but once the fog lifted the conditions were perfect for a rugby match. In recent seasons this was a familiar fixture against Buckingham with Grove looking to bounce back after the loss against Beaconsfield.

5 Mins - Jorge Everson passed long across the back line wide to Billy Haist, who beat 2 Buckingham players on the outside to go over a score the opening try out wide. Ollie Nicholl narrowly missed the difficult conversion attempt putting it just wide of the right hand upright. Score: 5-0

20 Mins - Buckingham awarded a penalty for Grove pulling down the maul from a lineout. They opt to kick to the corner and from the resulting lineout, construct the maul to drive over. Conversion made. Score: 12-14

31 Mins - Grove have a lineout 10 yards out, Tom McCarthy throws an arrow and Grove are able to construct a maul from the lineout. With Grove unable to drive the maul over the line, they opt to give the ball to the backs. Jorge Everson find Louis Richards, who offloads to Luke Mathews travelling at pace, breaking the Buckingham defensive line to run in and score. Ollie Nicholl makes the conversion. Score: 19-19

37 Mins - Buckingham work it through the phases with the forwards to go in and score under the posts. Conversion made. Score: 19-26

40 Mins - Grove are awarded a penalty for a high tackle. Grove opt for go for a tap and go. Ollie Nicholl found Jorge Everson with the initial pass. Jorge Everson then fires a flat pass to Louis Richards before looping around to receive the ball again behind the line. Jorge Everson shifts the ball into the other hand and dummies the offload before stepping inside through the Buckingham defensive line. The momentum carries Jorge Everson over to score just left of the posts. Ollie Nicholl makes the conversion. This play brought the half to a close. Score 26-26

This was an excellent game of rugby, with both teams leaving it all out on the pitch! A great result for Grove putting them back to winning ways, with Windsor at home next week who also put a win on the board in this round of fixtures.
