Grove Ladies finally got their season underway on 16th October with a 30-24 win over Harpenden Ladies in the RFU Merit Table.
The new relationship with the Oxford University 2nd team ensured that we fielded 13 players in Grove shirts and with borrowing two from Harpenden, played a rare 15 a side game.
As both teams had new players they played 3 x 2 minute thirds which gave them more confidence and conserved the energy levels.
Grove started slowly in the first period, as a result of not having trained together but as the game progressed they caught Harpenden and then overtook them convincingly in the last period.
Kayla Nichol who was playing flanker in her senior debut scored a hat trick and was named forward of the match and newcomer Avril Symes got back of the match.
