U16 rugby is highly competitive but still supportive and inclusive—especially at Grove RFC. Here’s what reflects this important year in your child’s rugby journey.

What to Expect at U16

  • Full 15-a-side rugby with contested scrums, lifted lineouts, and tactical kicking.
  • League play in OBB Under-16 Division 2, a structured competition awarding points for wins, draws, bonus tries, and close losses
  • Cup fixtures, festival matches, and seasonal tours.
  • Rigorous training focused on fitness, discipline and teamwork.
  • Preparation for Colts rugby and links to the Senior squad.

Why Parents Value U16

  • Adheres to RFU Age Grade guidelines.
  • Develops physical resilience, leadership, and maturity.
  • Safe, structured coaching environment.

Beyond Training
In addition to league and cup rugby, U16s play in festivals and go on inspirational tours. They also start their link into our Senior coaching team, preparing them for Colts and Adult Rugby on the Grove RFC pathway
