Senior Win, Ladies Victory, Junior Success and Minis Festival action.

Grove RFC, based in Grove near Wantage in South Oxfordshire, enjoyed a strong weekend of rugby across senior, ladies, junior and mini sections. With home league action, away fixtures and festival rugby across Oxfordshire, players from Grove, Didcot, Abingdon and the Vale of White Horse represented the club with pride.

A powerful home performance saw the 1st XV secure an important league win at Grove. After establishing early control, Grove maintained intensity and finished strongly to put clear daylight between the sides.

Senior Friendly Fixture

Grove II 10 – 42 Aylesbury

In a friendly fixture, Grove II faced a strong Aylesbury side. Despite the scoreline, the squad showed commitment throughout.

Tries were scored by Ratu Savou and Steve Morgan.

Thank you to everyone who came down to support both sides and to our sponsors for their continued backing of rugby in Grove and Wantage.

Ladies Rugby – Strong Away Performance

Stow-on-the-Wold 5 – 39 Grove and Faringdon

The Ladies joined by our friends at Witney RFC delivered an excellent performance on the road, securing a 39 – 5 victory against Stow-on-the-Wold. A dominant display built on teamwork, organisation and attacking intent saw the squad control the game from early on.

It was a performance that reflected the hard work being put in at training and continues the positive trajectory of women’s rugby at Grove RFC.

Junior Rugby Results

Under 15s
Royal Wootton Bassett 32 – 5 Grove

A slow start saw Grove concede early tries, but the second half showed real character. Defensive organisation improved and the contest became far more competitive after the break. There are clear positives to build on as the squad continues developing.

Under 14 Grove and Didcot Titans
Grove and Didcot Titans 31 – 10 Reading RFC

A strong and physical contest resulted in a well deserved 31 – 10 victory. Creative attacking play created decisive moments, supported by structured defence and an organised backline performance.

Mini and Junior Festival Rugby

Our Under 7 to Under 12 players enjoyed a fantastic day at the Oxford Quins Festival. Festival rugby always provides valuable game time and development opportunities, and it was encouraging to see so many young players representing Grove RFC with enthusiasm and respect.
