Grove put up a pretty dismal display at Devizes, again making far too many mistakes, particularly with wayward and unnecessary kicking out of hand. The hosts on the other hand played cool, controlled, yet unspectacular rugby and relied on the phenomenal boot of their fly half to get them out of trouble. While Grove kicked aimlessly the Devizes No. 10 slotted 4 penalties and a dropped goal and only narrowly missed a second drop goal attempt. In reply Grove did manage to score 3 trys from wing Guy Nicholl, centre Brendon White and substitute lock Mark Tugwell but it was not enough to take victory from the side that deserved it more. The game was marked by some very suspect refereeing throughout with the Grove players and supporters very unhappy with certain decisions but more often with the lack of them.
