Thrive or Just Survive?
Since 1972 Grove RFC has shown itself capable of running a successful operation which has been the envy of other local clubs. This has been entirely due to volunteers. Indeed the first Clubhouse, opened in 1980, was built solely by volunteers.
Now is the time for all good men and ladies to come to the aid of the Club – to pinch most of a hackneyed saying. Some of the present Committee of eleven have been carrying two or more jobs for the sake of the other four hundred plus members. This is an unfair burden and one which all others can help to solve by sharing the burden. Many hands make light work.
Recently we have had direct negotiations with Paul Davis of Persimmons, the firm contracted to begin the Grove Airfield Development. We need to be able to demonstrate that we are a Club looking to develop and improve still further our facilities. Our Business Plan, which is in the process of being updated, sets out where we hope to be in the next five years. It would be wonderful if we could build on the work already done, with new ideas and energy from among our members, to extend our present facilities, improve our league position and perhaps own our own grounds too.
On 29th May we have our Annual General Meeting, the Agenda for which is appended. Ideally we would hope that all Committee positions are contested by two or more people. To that end there will be Nomination Forms for each Committee position, together with Role Descriptions, available in the bar so that members can see what the positions entail. There will also be a copy of our present Constitution.
Your Club needs you now!
Nominations properly proposed & seconded and with the agreement of the nominee will be accepted by e-mail.
Nomination Forms, Role Descriptions & Club Constitution are available in the Club NOW.
