Congratulations to all of our players who demonstrated a huge level of commitment at the Grove Festival

Well what more can I say?

On a boiling hot day and a rock hard ground all of our squad put in a fantastic effort to give themselves performances to be proud of on Sunday.

All players - those newly arrived to the squad and our 'veterans' - never gave up and worked tirelessly for each other to achieve excellent results. The A team were very unlucky to lose in the semi final to Oxford 2-1 and they really gave everything that they had throughout the morning. Quins beat Oxford 1-0 in the final in another tight match.

The B team reached final of their tournament before losing 3-1 due to a mometary lapse of concentration from the initial kick off when the opposition scored and then it was a very even game for the most part. They went into the final minutes trailing 2-1 but unfortunately conceded a try whilst chasing the equalising score and that settled the match.

However......whilst I 'dared to dream' I never expected that we would show such levels of skill and commitment after such a short period of training and based upon these performances Grove RFC U9's are definitely going to be competitive with all of the teams in the County this year. We should now be going into any of the weekend club matches expecting to give a good account of ourselves. All of our children should be congratulated for their efforts.

I'd also like to extend my thanks to all of the parents who helped out in making the tournament happen. Unfortunately this often means that you don't see your child play in any matches and I know that this must be a disappointment for you. All that we can do is to reiterate that the more help that we receive, the less time each person has to put in and this allows more spectator time.

Lee and I look forward to seeing as many as possible at training on Tuesday evening.

Best regards

Andy
