No front row at Chippy so Grove get a walkover!

Grove 1sts were very disappointed not to be able to play on Saturday 25th September. This was particularly so as we were fielding a very strong side and were confident of recording a high scoring victory. The problem being that our opponents, Chipping Norton, could not muster a front row and so had to cry off the night before the match. We were offered a 'double-header' by Chippy, i.e. play the match on November 6th as both the Oxfordshire Cup 1st round match and also as the Southern Counties (North) league match. This we refused and have thus been awarded 5 points for the walkover. At the same time Chipping Norton have had 5 points deducted and the result has been recorded as a 0 : 0 scoreline for now. Should we be in contention for 1st or 2nd place in the league at the end of the season appropriate points adjustments will be made so that Grove are not unduly disadvantaged by this result.
Interestingly Chippy were able to field a 2nd team which thrashed Banbury 2nds in BBO (North) division of the league!
